For the longest time, Karl Malone has been associated with the sport of basketball. Thanks to his wife, Malone has apparently embraced a popular team in a different sport, but this decision might be coming back to haunt him.

On Sunday, Malone's wife Kay posted an Instagram story showing Dallas Cowboys wide receiver KaVontae Turpin walking out of the tunnel and onto the field. Interestingly, Kay's caption revealed that her husband had developed an affinity for "America's Team."

"Finally got Karl to be a Cowboy fan," Kay wrote in her caption on IG.

It appeared, however, that Malone chose a bad time to become a Cowboys supporter. That day, Dallas was blown out 44-24 by the Denver Broncos.

Denver drew strong performances from rookies R.J. Harvey, Pat Bryant, and Jahdae Barron in this game. Meanwhile, star quarterback Bo Nix threw no less than four touchdown passes.

As for the Dallas side, this is Brian Schottenheimer's fourth loss in the first seven games of his stint as Cowboys head coach. The Cowboys now find themselves tied at 3-4 with the Washington Commanders in an NFC East division utterly dominated by the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.

It remains to be seen, of course, if Malone will stay the course with his fandom, given the Cowboys' subpar record and humiliating loss this past weekend. Loyalty, of course, was something that he was known for during his NBA career. The Mailman, who is third all-time in career points, spent 18 seasons with the Utah Jazz before playing his final year with the LA Lakers.

Karl Malone's wife Kay Malone pays tribute to Houston Cougars strength coach

On Sunday, Malone's wife Kay shared an Instagram story that paid tribute to Kurt Hester, who passed away the day prior at the age of 61.

Hester, who had served as strength and conditioning coach for the Houston Cougars, died after a battle with melanoma. In her IG story, Kay shared an image of Hester with the words "In memory."

Several years ago, Hester had a unique connection to the Malone family. When Hester was with Louisiana Tech, he trained student-athletes in the Karl Malone Weight Room, a facility dedicated to the Basketball Hall of Famer.
