Trae Young struggled from the field on the Atlanta Hawks' 128-123 loss against the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. Young shot 7-of-22 from the field, including 1-of-10 shooting from the three-point line, to finish with 21 points, along with 17 assists. On X, former NBA player Patrick Beverley, who has a long-standing beef with Young, continued his mockery of the Hawks star as he made fun of his shooting splits against the Bulls. "yal cmon relax on Trae just a tough shooting night. he go get it right. Go Hawks Go 😂," Beverley wrote hours after the game. It was the latest of the two's verbal jabs at each other, following a back-and-forth during the offseason when Young and Beverley threw insults at each other on social media and their podcasts. After loading up their roster in the offseason, the Hawks are now 1-3 to start the year with losses against the defending champions OKC Thunder, and the Toronto Raptors. Their lone win came against the Orlando Magic in a tight 111-107 game. Young has averaged 20.7 points and 7.0 assists per game on 39/25/83 shooting splits. His current averages were a far cry from last season, when he recorded 24.2 points per game while shooting 41.1 percent from the field, and 34 percent from the three-point line. Trae Young believes "misconceptions" about him will change this seasonTrae Young has been one of the most scrutinized players in the league, but he remains optimistic that he will prove them wrong this season. In an interview with ESPN, Young said that the misconceptions about his game will be changed this season, as he believes he is due for another breakout year. "There's a lot of misconceptions of me," he said. "They'll get changed over time, and I truly believe that. "And I feel like a lot of it will get changed this year."Young also downplayed the criticisms about his play style, saying that it was "comical.""I mean, it's very comical to me. It's very funny. There's so many things, man," he added. Young's struggles, however, have put the Hawks on a bad track to start the year, following early-season expectations about their capability to contend in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks will look to bounce back against the Brooklyn Nets on Oct. 29.
