JJ Redick had a hilarious assessment of the LA Lakers’ performance after their 125-108 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Monday. The Purple & Gold’s head coach suggested that the team might have been worn down by a hectic schedule while also using a Space Jam reference.

"It's like the Monstars taking over the people that you've grown to coach and they're not doing anything that they normally do. It's weird," Redick said.

The Lakers definitely looked tired, mentally and physically, while playing their third game in just four nights. Luka Doncic was the only player who lived up to his usual level, putting up 38 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in just over 31 minutes.

Meanwhile, the other two stars, LeBron James and Austin Reaves, combined for only 26 points and also turned the ball over eight times. Rui Hachimura struggled as well, finishing the game without scoring despite playing 23 minutes.

However, Phoenix deserves credit for its performance in the win. Backed by Dillon Brooks’ 33 points, the Suns looked sharper than usual in almost every area. They moved the ball well, finishing with far more assists than their season average, came up with extra steals, and committed fewer turnovers.

Luka Doncic takes responsibility for Lakers loss despite near triple-double outburst

Even though he led the Lakers in points, rebounds and assists, Luka Doncic did not shy away from taking responsibility for the loss. He pointed straight at his nine turnovers, which matched his career high, and owned up to it.

"That was my fault. I shouldn't have nine turnovers in a game," Doncic said.

Despite the defeat, Doncic etched his name in the history books. By dropping 38 points, he now holds the most 35-point games in a single season by a Lakers point guard in more than five decades.

A performance like this was not exactly shocking. He has been on a tear lately with six straight games of at least 30 points. His recent form also earned him the Western Conference Player of the Week award for Week #6 after averaging 37.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 10.3 assists while helping LA go 3-0 during that run.
