Despite the Philadelphia 76ers suffering a 112-108 loss to the LA Lakers on Sunday, the night still turned out to be pleasantly surprising for Jared McCain. After the game, he managed to pull off a jersey swap with Luka Doncic, which instantly became the highlight of his night.

Before leaving the arena, McCain proudly showed off the sweaty, game-worn jersey he had just received from Doncic. He looked thrilled, especially because Doncic also asked for his jersey in return, something McCain claimed rarely happens.

“He gave me his game-worn (jersey). This s**t so fire,” McCain said in his YouTube vlog. “But he asked for mine. I gave it to him… Usually, he don’t ask for it. They didn’t let me give him my game-worn but Kyle (Lowry) was like ‘you better give him the game-worn. So I just gave it to him.”

The jersey Jared McCain received came from a huge performance, putting Luka Doncic in the history books for passing Russell Westbrook for the second-most 30-point triple-doubles ever. Doncic put up 31 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists and helped the Lakers turn to their winning ways.

McCain’s night on the hardwood was much more underwhelming. Coming off the bench, he finished with eight points on 3-7 FG, along with a rebound and an assist.

Luka Doncic extends 30-point streak following week-long break in Slovenia

Luka Doncic missed the Dec 4 and Dec 5 games against the Toronto Raptors and the Boston Celtics, respectively. For a week, after the Lakers’ Dec 1 clash against the Phoenix Suns, he flew to Slovenia to be with his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, for the birth of their second child.

It was a hectic few days for Doncic, who acknowledged the Lakers for giving him the time he needed for personal reasons.

“It was good, definitely good,” Doncic said. “I got to see my daughter again, obviously my newborn. Coming back, it was hard to leave them behind. But it’s a job, got to do it. Hopefully, I’ll see them soon… Normally, it’s one game but this was kind of different,” Luka said, “going all the way back home so I really appreciated them letting me do this.”

Luka Doncic found his rhythm instantly after returning, picking up right where he left off. His 31-point triple-double helped extend his streak of 30-point outings to eight games. Across that stretch, he has been averaging 36.5 points along with 9.6 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game.
