Jamahl Mosley and Paolo Banchero Vehemently Refuse to Take Accountability as Orlando loses 6th Game

Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley and star Paolo Banchero were at the center of social media attention for infamous reasons after the team’s 111-107 loss to the Boston Celtics. Their outburst was surprising because both are usually composed individuals. Yet this time, they appeared frustrated, unwilling to accept responsibility after the team suffered its sixth loss of the 2025-2026 season.

Mosley was the first to speak in the postgame press conference, seemingly offended by the questions about his rotation decisions. He defended his approach and shifted the focus to the players’ mistakes, pointing to the team’s turnovers that allowed the Celtics to take advantage.

“Seventeen turnovers for 29 points. It has nothing to do with the rotation. Thank you,” Mosley said.

Banchero also had an awkward interaction with media personnel when asked about the new offensive system. Banchero did not want to go into the details, but his response suggested that he was not confident in the new plans.

“This new offensive system that you guys have been talking about over the course of the offseason. Do you notice how different it is from years past to this year? And is the pace of play maybe contributing to these turnovers?” the reporter asked.

“I mean, I don't know. I don't know about that one,” Banchero responded.

Individually, Paolo Banchero had a highly productive outing on Sunday, recording 28 points, six rebounds and four assists on 56.3% FG.

As a whole, the team underperformed severely. The group turned the ball over 17 times, which was higher than their average from the first nine games of the season. Their shooting also took a massive dip. Additionally, they recorded fewer rebounds and assists than they were used to.

Paolo Banchero has high expectations from his Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic already boasts a strong frontcourt with Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, a duo that helped lead the team to the playoffs in each of the last two seasons.

This summer, the front office decided to pull a blockbuster trade to bring in Desmond Bane. With that move, along with the postseason experience the team has gained, Banchero believes the Magic are now ready to make a real push toward the Eastern Conference Finals.

“I think the sky is our limit,” Banchero said. “I think we should be a deep playoff team. Hopefully, that means Finals. But if it’s anything shorter than that, then Eastern Conference finals. I want to play deep into the playoffs. I think that we have a deep roster.”

However, the team has yet to live up to Paolo Banchero’s expectations. The Magic have begun their season with a subpar 4-6 record, placing them 11th in the Eastern Conference.
