Dallas Mavericks guard Brandon Williams broke his silence on his arrest. Williams was arrested Saturday at DFW Airport for carrying marijuana. While the recreational use of marijuana is legal in some states, Texas is not one of them. To make matters worse, it is also illegal to carry marijuana in an airport.
Because of those two factors, Williams was immediately arrested after authorities discovered the marijuana in his possession. On Wednesday, the media interviewed Williams before the Mavericks’ game against the Indiana Pacers. Reporters wanted to know what was running through his mind.
"I wanted to apologize, first and foremost," Williams told reporters. "Obviously, it's an ongoing situation. I can't really go further into detail about it, but I just want to apologize for being a distraction, especially at a time coming in 0-2.
"It wasn't the ideal time at all, but I want to take full accountability. I want to take full responsibility and it's time to move on now."

Heading into Wednesday's game, the Mavericks should have the edge over the struggling Pacers. Indiana has yet to earn its first win this season. With that in mind, Williams and the Mavericks could take full advantage of the situation and notch their second win of the year.
Jason Kidd shares thoughts on Brandon Williams incident
While Brandon Williams' arrest over the weekend was not considered a major incident, his team could still be concerned about what happened. This season, the Dallas Mavericks are focused on trying to hold down the fort without Kyrie Irving. Distractions are the last thing they need.
However, Williams' arrest is something the Mavericks cannot simply ignore. Coach Jason Kidd shared his thoughts on his guard’s arrest for possession of marijuana.
"Going to a funeral for a friend's passing and having that incident, that's something that he has to deal with and we can only be here to support him," Kidd told reporters on Wednesday before their game against the Indiana Pacers.
Normally, the NBA would suspend players for getting into trouble outside the league. In Williams’ case, however, he remains available to play in the game against Indiana.
