The drama surrounding the LA Clippers took another turn after they reportedly kept Ty Lue from speaking to the media on Thursday. LA capped off a five-game road trip with a 115-113 loss to the Houston Rockets. Yahoo Sports NBA insider Kelly Ilko tweeted that the Clippers “declined” to make Lue available for the usual postgame conference.Fans promptly reacted to the news:“Has that time come? It's not only time for a coaching change, but they gotta break that core up, it's over.”Chuck @Biggchuck___LINK@KellyIko Has that time come? Embarrassing franchise. The Clippers are in disarray this season. After so much hype following big-name offseason acquisitions, the team stumbled to a 3-8 record midway through November. Early last month, the team parted ways with franchise legend Chris Paul.Shams Charania reported on Dec. 3 that Paul held the team, including the coaches, accountable. According to the NBA insider, Ty Lue and Paul had not been speaking for weeks.Lue blasted that narrative on Wednesday, insisting to reporters that the report was false. The 2016 champ with the Cleveland Cavaliers added that Paul played, so there was no reason they wouldn’t talk. The Clippers have lost eight of nine games, including their last three, dropping their record to 6-19. While Lue wasn’t available for a talk with the media on Thursday, the limelight will remain on him and the reeling team.Clippers off to worst 25-game start under Ty LueThe LA Clippers’ 6-19 record is their worst since Ty Lue took over from Doc Rivers to start the 2020-21 season. LA also had a poor start, going 3-7 during the 2023-24 campaign before regrouping to own a 15-10 mark after 25 games. Lue’s 3-12 record in his last 15 games with the Clippers is also the worst stretch in his career. This season, the Clippers have very little room for error. The loss to the Rockets dropped them to the No. 14 spot in the stacked and fiercely contested Western Conference. Only the last-placed New Orleans Pelicans (4-22) are behind them in the conference standings. The season is still long, but the longer they stay near the bottom, the tougher it becomes for them to earn a play-in spot. The 8-15 Utah Jazz, who lost key players to injuries and are on a full rebuild, are playing better than them.Only time will tell if Ty Lue will remain at the helm as the Clippers try to salvage their season.
