Zion Williamson is expected to suit up when the New Orleans Pelicans lock horns with the LA Lakers on the second night of a back-to-back this Sunday. This could be his first back-to-back game since Oct. 29 and 30, 2024.
Williamson scored a game-high 25 points in the 104-96 loss to the Warriors on Saturday. He shot 8-of-16 from the field, including 9-of-10 from the free-throw line, and added 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 31 minutes.
The 25-year-old has been a regular in the Pelicans’ lineup recently after overcoming a hamstring injury that caused him to miss eight games this month. There’s too much pressure on him to get the Pelicans out of their rut, but the former No. 1 overall pick continues to provide a spark and create points despite the results sliding further and further.
Whenever Williamson plays, the team puts up a solid fight. All their losses since his return have come by narrow margins. The star forward got his first win of the season on Nov. 25 with a game-high 29 points. The Pelicans’ other wins came in his absence. They are 3-17 overall and 1-15 in conference play, leaving them in the cellar of the Western Conference standings.

While Zion Williamson is good to go, New Orleans still miss few players, with six listed ahead of the Lakers clash. Trey Murphy III (elbow soreness) and Jordan Hawkins (illness) are expected to undergo late medical tests. Jordan Poole (quad), Herbert Jones (calf), Karlo Matkovic (calf) and Dejounte Murray (Achilles) continue to miss time while nursing injuries.
