LA Lakers superstar Luka Doncic is available to play on Friday night against the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2025 NBA Emirates Cup opener. The five-time All-Star missed the last three games with multiple injuries, including a left finger sprain and a left leg contusion he sustained against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 24.
Doncic's status was earlier listed as probable which was changed to available before the game. Coach JJ Redick said on Wednesday that the point guard could return in the next "couple of games," so there was a chance Doncic could have sat out Friday's clash and returned against the Miami Heat at home on Sunday.
The Lakers have found a cushion with Austin Reaves leading the team's charge in his absence, helping them to a 2-1 record this past week. The Grizzlies, 3-2, are in the same spot as LA, despite having a relatively healthy roster. Reaves has looked unfazed against such teams, so the Lakers would have been confident without Doncic.
