The LA Lakers finish a three-game East Coast road trip with their first matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, with concerns surrounding LeBron James' availability. The 40-year-old superstar missed the last game and was on the injury report for Sunday's contest.
James is managing sciatica, which ruled him out for the first 14 games. On top of it, he now has left foot joint arthritis, which is limiting him. James has missed two games due to that issue, both of which were at least one of the two back-to-back games. The Lakers initially reported the issue on Nov. 30 before the New Orleans Pelicans game.
James will not miss his third game as he has been cleared to play against the Sixers. He also sat out Friday's loss to the Boston Celtics with both injuries. He was doubtful before being ruled out. However, James will likely start for Lakers after being listed as questionable earlier against Philadelphia.
The Lakers also have a chance to give LeBron James a long break. They are back in action on Wednesday next, giving the 23-season veteran six days ' rest to manage his injuries. The Lakers aren't as shorthanded with Luka Doncic returning after a personal leave, missing two games. Marcus Smart is the only other player ruled out.
