The New York Knicks could make a move in the trade market to acquire Anthony Davis. As crazy as that idea might sound, NBA insider Ian Begley believes the Knicks could pursue the 10-time All-Star despite his extensive injury history. On Sunday, Begley reported that the Knicks are serious about winning a championship this season and are willing to acquire any pieces they believe are crucial to turning that ambition into reality. The insider broke the news in an article for "SNY.""I’m sure the Knicks would at least check in with Dallas if/when Anthony Davis becomes available. You may scoff at the idea, but the Knicks want to win a title this season. If Dallas is offering Davis at a below-market cost, I’m sure the Knicks will at least give the move some thought," Begley wrote.Anthony Davis arrived in Dallas last season in exchange for Luka Doncic going to LA. However, things have not gone in the 10-time All-Star’s favor since his arrival. Davis has been sidelined repeatedly with injuries. He played only nine games for the Mavericks last season. The situation remains the same this season, as Davis has been sidelined with a calf injury after playing just five games. The only scenario in which the Knicks could extract value by acquiring Davis is if they obtain him at a price below his market value.Mark Cuban believes the Mavs won't trade Anthony DavisAfter Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont fired the franchise's previous general manager, Nico Harrison, rumors about Davis being traded flooded the community. However, minority owner Mark Cuban believes Davis is not going anywhere. On Wednesday, Cuban told The Athletic that the Mavericks have no intention of trading their 10-time All-Star."We won’t. We want to try to win," he said.Davis is averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in five games on 52.0% shooting. When he is on the floor, the Mavericks look like a different team. He dominates the paint, becomes a viable lob-pass option, and draws defenders to create open looks for his teammates.Right now, the Mavericks (5-13) are one of the league’s worst teams. They are in 13th place in the Western Conference standings.
