Draymond Green has been at it again, this time blaming his teammates for another poor defensive display against the Houston Rockets. The Golden State Warriors were the architects of their own downfall as they fumbled a 14-point lead in a 104-100 loss on Wednesday. It was a remarkable collapse from the Warriors who had been in complete control of the game in the first half leading 59-47. The Rockets undid all of Golden State's work in the third quarter by going on a 27-17 run. In fact, Houston, playing without Kevin Durant, Steven Adams and Tari Eason, only took its first lead of the game late in the fourth quarter. The defeat means the Dubs have picked up only one win in their last five games, dropping back to .500 at 10-10.Green confronted the cameras after the games and expressed more disappointment at the team's failure to hold on to a lead despite sitting 10th in defensive rating.“Our defense is s**t,” he said. “Because it’s not necessarily the numbers. Like how do you feel when you’re out there? And if it’s just letdown after letdown, it’s bigger than the numbers, you know what I’m saying? Defense is about demeanor. So if there’s letdown after letdown and it kills your demeanor, it kills your bravado, then you’re just a soft team. So it’s bigger than a number. What does the other team feel when you’re defending them? And right now they don’t feel no force.”Green made it clear that his criticism wasn’t shot at any player, but the team as a whole.“I know everybody likes to twist words, I said we are individually f***ing awful,” he added.Draymond Green had a near-triple-double performance at the heart of the defense, finishing with 12 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. And comments like this will instill renewed fire in the team as they approach the most important stretch of the season.Steve Kerr Echoes Draymond Green’s Sentiment After Stumbling LossSteve Kerr also echoed Draymond Green’s sentiments after the loss. He referenced a legendary NFL coach’s famous words to sum up the Warriors’ inconsistent results.“What did Bill Parcells say?” Kerr said. “You are what your record says you are. So we’re 10-10, we’re an average team.”The defeat against the Rockets gave the Warriors a reality check, but Kerr stressed that there was no point in berating players who have already accomplished so much with him and said he still believes this team has the potential to do more.“It’s my job as coach to help these guys find that rhythm that can give us some juice, some separation, some confidence. So I believe in them and our guys, our continuity that we’ve got from not only last year but Steph and Dray for 14, 15 years, whatever it’s been. So I believe in the guys and we just got to keep working and we’ll get there.”Kerr and the Warriors will have little time to reflect on their loss as they now prepare for a clash against the New Orleans Pelicans before facing the reigning champions at home, then heading out on a four-game road trip.
