We’re not sitting out for little booboos any more Zion.Injuries have been Zion Williamson’s biggest issue. Last season, he dealt with hamstring and back issues on separate occasions. In early April, the Pelicans eventually shut down the No. 1 pick of the 2019 NBA draft to recover from a bone contusion in his back.In his previous six seasons in the NBA, Williamson played in just 214 of 472 games. He also missed all 10 playoff games and played in just one of the team's five play-in games. He sat out the entire 2021-22 campaign due to a broken foot. Last season, he was limited to 30 games.Zion Williamson entered the season in arguably the best shape of his career. He shed a few pounds to be more mobile and to lessen potential foot, knee and back injuries. The changes have helped him to a fast start despite the Pelicans’ back-to-back losses with him on the court. Williamson is averaging 27.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 4.0 steals per outing. The New Orleans Pelicans and Williamson are back in familiar territory. They will not rush the bullstrong forward to return, but he is badly needed by the still winless team.Zion Williamson-less Pelicans fell short against CelticsIn a battle between two winless teams, the Boston Celtics left New Orleans with a resounding 122-90 win over the Zion Williamson-less Pelicans. Behind a balanced attack led by Jordan Poole, the Pelicans kept the game close until halfway through the fourth quarter.Poole tallied a team-high 22 points, four assists and two rebounds. Herb Jones and Yves Missi combined for 22 points, nine rebounds and three assists. The Pelicans trailed 87-78 entering the fourth quarter before briefly making the encounter more exciting for their fans. Poole’s 25-footer with 9:14 pushed the home team to within 91-86 of the visitors. The Celtics took advantage of Zion Williamson’s absence to respond with a crippling 25-2 run to break the game open.
