The Houston Rockets turned a physical, closely fought showdown against the Phoenix Suns on Monday into a 114-92 win. Without Kevin Durant, the Rockets dominated the fourth quarter 30-17 to cruise to the finish line. Amen Thompson led the Rockets with 28 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and one block.

The Houston Rockets opened a four-game road trip with a clash against the Phoenix Suns on Monday. Houston, which had its five-game winning run ended by the Denver Nuggets on Friday, hoped to bounce back with a win. The Rockets got their first look at former team enforcer Dillon Brooks while Kevin Durant missed an opportunity to return to Phoenix to reportedly tend to a family matter.

The first quarter was a seesaw battle until the Rockets pulled ahead late. Josh Okogie, Amen Thompson, Aaron Holiday and Alperen Sengun led the visiting team to a 30-23 lead after one quarter.

The Rockets and Suns engaged in another nip-and-tuck battle in the second quarter. Houston's balanced scoring kept it in the driver's seat while Dillon Brooks, who had 11 points in the period, gave the home team a spark. The Rockets entered halftime with a 59-50 lead.

The Rockets looked like they were going to break the game open early in the third quarter. Alperen Sengun scored a floater to extend Houston's lead to 69-55 before the home team regrouped to cut the deficit. Houston carried an 84-75 advantage heading into the final frame.

Houston's 3-for-3 shooting from deep in the first eight minutes of the fourth quarter gave the Rockets control of the game. Amen Thompson's 23-footer opened a 104-85 advantage, forcing the Suns to a timeout.

Phoenix Suns coach Jordan Ott emptied his bench with 2:31 remaining as the Houston Rockets cruised to a comfortable win.
