Durant has been key to Houston’s strong start to the 2025-26 season, averaging 24.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, shooting 48.5%. The last two games had been a struggle for the two-time Finals MVP, with him shooting 33.3% in both matchups.

Alperen Sengun is likely to lead the charge for Houston in Durant’s absence. He is averaging 22.7 points, 10.0 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game.

Dorian Finney-Smith joins KD on the team’s injury report as he will also miss Monday’s game against the Suns. He has yet to make his debut for Houston after signing a four-year, $53 million deal this summer.

Lastly, Steven Adams is listed as questionable against Phoenix as he is suffering from right ankle tendinopathy. Adams logged 23 minutes, finishing with five points and eight rebounds in Friday’s 112-109 loss against the Denver Nuggets. He is recording 6.0 ppg and 9.4 rpg this season.

If Adams sits out, the Houston Rockets are likely to start Clint Capela at the five. Capela has provided valuable production off the bench, shooting 60% this season. Tari Eason and Fred VanVleet remain the last two players on the team's injury list.

Eason is recovering from a hip injury and will be out for four to six weeks. Meanwhile, VanVleet could miss the 2025-26 season with a torn ACL.

Amen Thompson has stepped in as the team’s primary playmaker in VanVleet’s absence. He has done well, averaging 17.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists. The Rockets will look to get back on track against the Suns. The team had been on a five-game winning streak before Friday's loss against Denver.
