Nova Sport reported on Sunday that NBA free agent Malik Beasley and Partizan Belgrade are nearing a $2 million agreement. Should Beasley sign for the Serbian basketball powerhouse, he will stay with the team “until the end of the season.” He last played in the NBA during the 2024-25 season, averaging 16.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

In September, ESPN reported that the Detroit Pistons offered Beasley a three-year, $42 million contract. The Pistons removed the offer after the NBA and the federal government investigated Beasley for alleged illegal sports betting.

Investigative journalist Pablo Torre tweeted in October that the NBA had cleared Beasley “for making a bet or two on another sport.” However, the FBI’s probe into the NBA’s illegal gambling led to Beasley being part of the investigation.

Malik Beasley is one of the NBA’s most reliable and efficient 3-point shooters. In his last two seasons in the biggest basketball league in the world, he shot 41.6% from behind the arc. Beasley placed second in the Sixth Man of the Year battle during the 2024-25 season.

Partizan Belgrade’s roster features multiple NBA players. Should Malik Beasley sign with them, he joins Shake Milton, Duane Washington, Sterling Brown, Jabari Parker, Aleksej Pokusevski and others in the lineup.

Malik Beasley wanted to sign with Pistons

Amid the uncertainty of his basketball future, Malik Beasley kept a low profile. He surprised fans last month when he engaged fans on Instagram to answer some of their questions. When asked about where he would play next, Beasley answered:

“If I do go back to the NBA, it’s gonna be with the Pistons. I haven’t signed anything yet, but I have my strongest ties there. I had my best season there last year, and hopefully I can fit back in with the team.”

A return to the Pistons does not seem likely based on Nova Sport’s report. Detroit, heading into Sunday, has been doing fine without him. The Pistons own an Eastern Conference-best 19-5 record.
