Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey and rookie V.J. Edgecombe appeared on "Inside the NBA" on Wednesday, where they were interviewed by former NBA player Charles Barkley.

Maxey and Edgecombe were both interviewed while they were in their rooms, prompting Barkley to ask Maxey to gift Edgecombe frames, decorations, and paintings for his walls, just like the ones he had in the background.

"You got paid, and you earned it," Barkley told Maxey. "Why don't you buy the young guy (Edgecombe) some stuff to put on his damn walls? You got all these nice ass paintings, he got just regular white walls."

Barkley's comment left both players in splits.

Maxey signed a five-year, $204 million extension with the 76ers last season, solidifying his future with Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Edgecombe was drafted third overall in the 2025 draft.

The 76ers are one of four teams that have yet to lose this season. They have beaten the Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, Orlando Magic, and the Washington Wizards.

Edgecombe has been impressive to start his NBA career, averaging 22.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.

Meanwhile, Maxey is putting up 37.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 7.7 assists. He is leading the 76ers while Joel Embiid battles knee issues to start the season and Paul George recovers from left knee surgery.

Maxey, Edgecombe get endorsement from Stephen A. Smith

Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe have turned heads to start the 2025-26 season. According to ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith, it is not far-fetched to think that the 76ers duo could be one of the best backcourt combinations in the league by the end of the season.

“By the end of next season, I believe there is a legitimate argument that we will be saying that the Philadelphia 76ers have the best backcourt in the entire National Basketball Association,” he said on "First Take."

Aside from Maxey and Edgecombe, the 76ers still have depth waiting to be tapped as they await the return of George and sophomore Jared McCain to the lineup.

The 76ers have a chip on their shoulders to start the season, following a lackluster campaign last year, in which they won just 24 games.

The team will next face the Boston Celtics on Friday.
