The Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs locked horns in an NBA Cup game at the Frost Bank Center on Friday. The two teams had previously matched up on Wednesday, with the Warriors recording a 125-120 win in a regular-season game. The Spurs entered Friday's contest with revenge on their minds.In terms of the starting lineups, both teams stuck with the same starters from the previous game. Steph Curry, Moses Moody, Will Richard, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green rounded out Golden State's lineup. Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, De'Aaron Fox, Devin Vassell and Harrison Barnes started for San Antonio.The Warriors raced to an 11-7 lead after Butler beat Wembanyama off the bounce from the corner for two with 7:35 remaining in the first quarter. The Warriors came out physical early, and Steph Curry picked up from where he had left off in the previous game, knocking down his first 3-pointer inside the first five minutes of action.Wembanyama made a shot at the buzzer and ensured the Spurs led 20-18 after the opening frame. Curry had 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting, but the Warriors shot a poor 7-of-25 from the floor.The Spurs continued to defend at a high level in the second quarter as Wembanyama appeared in lockdown mode and dominated the paint. Despite the Spurs' defensive excellence, the Warriors found a way to stay ahead by forcing 13 turnovers from San Antonio. Curry added eight more points to his tally and helped Golden State to a 47-45 lead at halftime.Curry was on fire in the third quarter, just like he was in the previous game, dropping 22 points in the penultimate period. This time around, the two-time league MVP played the whole third quarter, scoring 17 points. Despite his herculean effort, the Warriors trailed 79-77 heading into the fourth. The Spurs scored 34 points in the period, shooting 13-of-19 from the floor.The fourth quarter witnessed both teams leave everything out on the court.
