The short-handed Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 99-94 on Saturday at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.

Pat Spencer led the Warriors with 19 points and seven assists on 7-for-12 shooting, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range. Gui Santos contributed 14 points off the bench. Buddy Hield added 13 points and seven rebounds on 4-for-9 shooting, including 3-for-6 from downtown.

Quinten Post finished with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Brandin Podziemski chipped in 10 points.

Golden State was without the services of stars Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green, who were sidelined due to injuries. Other players on the injury list were Al Horford, De'Anthony Melton and Seth Curry.

Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 29 points on 12-for-26 shooting, including 7-for-14 from 3-point range. Evan Mobley finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds on 8-for-19 shooting. Darius Garland scored 17 points, while Jaylon Tyson added 11 points and 11 rebounds.

With the win, the Warriors, who were in the front end of a back-to-back, snapped a two-game losing skid and improved to 12-12. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers dropped to 14-11. Cleveland completed a back-to-back set on Saturday, having won 130-117 against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday.

Golden State Warriors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers game summary

The Cleveland Cavaliers had an 18-12 lead over the Golden State Warriors at the end of the opening quarter. Both teams started the game cold; the Cavaliers shot just 28% (7-for-25) from the field, while the Warriors were 17.4% (4-for-23).

Golden State reclaimed the lead in the second quarter and went up by as many as 12. The Warriors outscored the Cavaliers 33-18 in the period to take a 45-36 lead into the halftime break.

Quinten Post led Golden State in the first half with 10 points and five rebounds on 4-for-6 shooting. Evan Mobley and Darius Garland scored 10 points apiece to lead Cleveland in the first half.

The Warriors extended their lead to 14 in the third period, and after three quarters, they led 72-62. In the fourth quarter, the Cavaliers trimmed the Warriors' lead to three (94-91) with about two minutes remaining.

Garland went 1-for-2 from the free-throw line to make it a two-point game (96-94) with 20.9 seconds left. In the following possession, Gui Santos went 1-for-2 from the free-throw line to extend Golden State's lead to 97-94 with 7.8 seconds on the clock. On the other end, Donovan Mitchell missed a 3-pointer that could've tied the game. The Warriors held on for the win.

Golden State next face the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, while Cleveland will return to action on Friday against the Washington Wizards.
