Germany faced Slovenia in one of two quarterfinal games of EuroBasket 2025 on Wednesday. Germany took a four-point lead early in the first quarter, but things took a very quick turn with Luka Doncic taking over in the last five minutes of the frame.
After scoring just two points in the first five minutes, Doncic scored eight in the next five. He had 10 points in the opening quarter as Slovenia led Germany 32-21.
However, Germany made a comeback in the second quarter, led by Franz Wagner and Dennis Schroder, who combined for 10 points. Doncic scored 12 of Slovenia's 19 points, but the Germans cut the lead to 51-45 heading into the halftime break.
The two teams exchanged buckets in the third, with Germany reducing the deficit to four points.

Germany started the final frame with a dominating 7-0 run in the first three minutes, taking a 77-74 lead. It was Germany's first lead in the game. With less than five minutes remaining in the game, it had extended the lead to five points before Doncic's bucket cut the lead to three.
Doncic's 3-pointer with just over four minutes remaining put Slovenia in the lead once again, but Dennis Schroder responded with a 3-pointer of his own to fuel a strong German run.
Germany extended its lead to nine points and eventually secured a 99-91 comeback win to advance to the semifinals, where it will face Finland on Friday.
Doncic led both teams in scoring with a 39-point double-double. He also recorded 10 rebounds and seven assists. However, none of his teammates reached the 15-point mark.
Franz Wagner, Dennis Schroder and Daniel Theis led Germany with 23, 15 and 10 points respectively.
