Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green on Tuesday called Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott a “bum.” Former Cowboys defensive lineman Marcus Spears on Wednesday on ESPN’s “First Take,” fired back at Green, as he placed Prescott on the same level as Steph Curry.

“If you’re just attributing to the playoffs, being a bum is kinda crazy to say,” Spears said. “It’s a bit rich coming from Draymond Green, who’s played with arguably a top-5 player to ever be in the NBA, to come out and say that like he’s been the catalyst.”
“He’s been a big part of what they’ve done championship-wise, I’m not taking that away from him,” he added. “But Dak Prescott would be the Steph Curry to the team and the way it’s supposed to go. Football is completely different when it comes to winning a championship.”

Green and co-host Jordan Schultz talked about Prescott and the Cowboys on the “Why Is Draymond Green Talking About Football?” podcast. This came after Dallas suffered a 27-17 home loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Monday.

“You have to understand, when I say bum, I’m not saying Dak Prescott isn’t a good NFL quarterback," Green said. “Of course, he’s a good NFL quarterback. But I’m saying when the money is on the line, when it’s for all the marbles, who are you? He’s a bum.”

The four-time champion is not a stranger to controversy. He had a back-and-forth with former teammate Kevin Durant over the value of offense and defense. Draymond Green's latest remarks have prompted some fans to question whether he would have won anything without Curry and/or Durant.

“It’s not like you just wave the white flag and say, ‘Ah man, he’s just gonna win (DPOY).’” Green said. “When you have an opportunity to go up against the best, it brings the best out of you, if you’re up for that level of competition. It brings your best out.”

Green has some catching up to do, if he wants to win the DPOY. He is averaging 6.1 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks per game. Wemby, meanwhile, is averaging 13.7 rpg, 1.3 spg and 4.7 bpg.
