After the clip was posted online, former Clippers guard Bones Hyland defended Lue, saying it was his way of joking around with his players."Speaking for TLue, this how he joked around with us, he’s a great coach & good dude. He also had that relationship with his players where he talked to us like this & it didn’t have any animosity behind it, it was simply joking around," Hyland posted on X.Bones Hyland @BizzyBones11LINKSpeaking for TLue, this how he joked around with us, he’s a great coach & good dude. The 12-time All-Star announced that the 2025-26 NBA season would be his last. He was traded to LA midway through the season and struggled to fit into Ty Lue's system. The former All-Star only appeared in 16 games, averaging 7.8 points and 4.5 rebounds.Cousins said Lue struggled to deal with veterans, adding that players like Rajon Rondo and John Wall also went through similar issues with the coach.“I’m really disappointed with T. Lue and how he has handled this situation,” Cousins said. “We’ve seen it become a pattern. I’ve experienced it, you know, how me and him didn’t talk for a while. I saw him do it to Rajon Rondo, now you do this to Chris Paul; rumors have it, you did it to John Wall.“It’s becoming a pattern how he deals with his players. To brand yourself as a player’s coach, you’re not really showing those tendencies with these patterns.”Aside from letting Chris Paul go, the Clippers face other problems. The team has a 6-16 record, the third-worst in the West.
