Davis also missed the previous two games owing to a left calf strain. Dallas earlier announced that their perennial All-Star would be re-evaluated after the road trip. The franchise is yet to announce an update other than the injury report stating he remains out.

Dereck Lively II will keep Anthony Davis company on the sidelines. The young center is confirmed to miss his fifth consecutive game with a right knee sprain. For the third straight game, the Mavericks will remain extremely shorthanded in the frontcourt.

Kyrie Irving and Dante Exum haven't made their season debuts yet. The duo will remain sidelined from the Pelicans game, with Irving recovering from a torn ACL in his left knee and Exum nursing a right knee injury.

The Mavericks are in the middle of a turbulent start to their season. Jason Kidd's team is placed in 14th position on the Western Conference standings with a 2-5 record. Cooper Flagg's rookie season hasn't begun in a manner many envisioned. The rookie's struggles, coupled with injuries to multiple starters, have only made the task even more challenging for the Mavericks.
