Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel played one season at Duke before going their separate ways in the NBA. Flagg was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the No. 1 pick, while Knueppel was selected fourth by the Charlotte Hornets. Flagg's mother, Kelly Flagg, is pushing for the Mavs to reunite his son and Knueppel. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, top Mavericks fan account @Mavs_FFL shared Knueppel's chances of winning Rookie of the Year. The account was surprised that the Hornets star had jumped over VJ Edgecombe and the Philadelphia 76ers.Knueppel is coming closer to Flagg, who is the current favorite to win the award. Kelly replied to @Mavs_FFL's tweet by suggesting that the Mavericks should bring the Wisconsin native to Dallas. She would love to see her son and his former teammates play together again.Kon Knueppel is averaging 17.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists in his first 14 games of the season. He's shooting 46.5% from the field, including 40.2% from beyond the arc, and 88.2% from the free-throw line.On the other hand, Cooper Flagg has had an up-and-down start to his career after the Dallas Mavericks decided to play him at point guard. Flagg is still putting up 15.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game. His shooting splits are 46/29/78.Nevertheless, the Charlotte Hornets are unlikely to trade Knueppel with the way he's been playing. He's expected to form a deadly offensive wing duo with Brandon Miller, who is returning from a shoulder injury sooner rather than later.Cooper Flagg called Kon Knueppel his friend for lifeCooper Flagg called Kon Knueppel his friend for life.
