As a father, it was a proud moment for the NBA legend. Now invested in the next chapter of his life, Melo is just enjoying watching his son play, and it has been fulfilling for the former New York Knicks star.

"The most fulfilling this is just seeing him out the [Syracuse] jersey on," Melo said in a video posted by 'The Big Podcast' on Thursday. "It's like 'damn! you sat in that same seat. I know the same feeling that you have. ...Some ... of the same fans are still there. ... So ... you get the residual effects of fan bases...then you are like 'damn this is surreal.'"

"It's not really a text message. I call him before and after every game. He's just been super proud of me."

Before he suited up for Syracuse, Carmelo Anthony worked closely with his son all summer. The results are out, and it is fantastic so far. Right after his first game, Kiyan was upgraded to the starting lineup, and he made exceptional use of the opportunity.

"It's what he expected because we were in the gym all summer. So, I don't think I have necessarily exceeded his expectations, but exceeded probably a lot of other people's expectations."

In his first three games, Kiyan Anthony averaged over 17 points. In 8 games, the Syracuse Orange is averaging 11.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 44.0% from the 3-point line.
