The LA Lakers are dealing with an injury crisis early in the 2025-26 NBA season, with LeBron James and Luka Doncic already out. Doncic is dealing with finger and leg injuries, while James is recovering from sciatica. Austin Reaves sparked a huge concern on Monday after his reaction to Doncic's hand injury.

In a post uploaded by @LukaUpdates on X, formerly known as Twitter, Doncic can be seen showing Reaves his braced finger injury. "A.R." didn't have the best initial reaction, saying the words "Oh, sh*t" before laughing and putting his arms around his teammate.

In the absence of Luka Doncic and LeBron James, Austin Reaves led the LA Lakers to a 127-120 win over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. Reaves dropped a career-high 51 points, adding 11 rebounds and nine assists in a fantastic victory for the purple and gold.

The Oklahoma product has a chance to showcase himself in the next week since he's expected to enter free agency next summer. He has improved in every season and looked like an All-Star against the Kings. He got to the free-throw line like he was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and got hot from beyond the arc like Damian Lillard.

Austin Reaves comments on his career night without Luka Doncic and LeBron James

Speaking to reporters after the game, Austin Reaves told the media that he didn't plan on scoring 51 points against the Sacramento Kings. Reaves just knew that he had to step up because the LA Lakers were playing without Luka Doncic and LeBron James.

"Especially on a night where you don't have Luka, you don't have Bron, you don't have Jaxson (Hayes), you got to go out there and be big for the team," Reaves said, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "I wasn't in my head thinking, 'You got to go score 50.' It was, 'Do whatever you can do to help the team win.'"

Reaves went from being undrafted to a legitimate star for the Lakers in a span of just five seasons. He's looking like a second option on offense at best, so it will be interesting to see if he can make this year's All-Star teams.
