Dallas Mavericks fans couldn't hold their thoughts in after the NBA announced the Players of the Week for both conferences. For the Western Conference, it was their former beloved superstar, Luka Doncic of the LA Lakers. In the Eastern Conference, it was New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson. Both stars started their careers with the Mavericks. However, they've moved on from the franchise and are now thriving with different organizations. The first to leave Dallas was Jalen Brunson. The 6-foot-1 guard was not given a contract extension after he emerged as a significant piece of the team's success. Now with the Knicks, he's established himself as one of the best stars in the league. Brunson has led the team to a 13-6 record this year. Doncic, on the other hand, didn't want to leave the team. Unfortunately for the Slovenian star, he was traded to the Lakers last season. Now, the five-time All-Star is taking over the franchise, leading them to an early 15-4 record. After the stars were named Player of the Week, Mavericks fans went furious. Their rage was mostly directed at Dallas' management for fumbling the duo of Doncic and Brunson. Here are some of what the fans said."Assassinate Nico," a fan said."Nico Harrison really fumbled both of them in 3 years. All-time tomfoolery," another fan commented. "Nico Harrison punching air rn," one fan said.Other fans had more jokes directed at the franchise. "What if they were on the same team? Threw this photoshop together," someone commented."Can you imagine if a team had both of them!!" a comment read. "Crazy to think this could’ve been the Mavs’ championship backcourt," one fan commented. The Knicks and Lakers have been somewhat successful. Dallas, on the other hand, is currently struggling and has a 6-15 record. The Mavericks are focused on developing their new starAfter the Dallas Mavericks moved on from Jalen Brunson, the franchise focused on Luka Doncic. When they traded Doncic, the franchise was rewarded with a new star to develop: Cooper Flagg. Fans are eager for the future since the former Duke standout has demonstrated skill on the floor. The rookie forward had a slow start to his career, but he's picked up the pace over the past few games. Flagg had a 35-point performance to lead Dallas past the LA Clippers, 114-110, on Saturday. The Mavericks started experimenting with Flagg by making him play point guard. This is why he's still finding his stride on the floor. But he's shown how talented he is with his adaptability. With Brunson and Doncic gone, the franchise's future is promising. Flagg could be their next franchise superstar.
