Anthony Edwards had to make a major change in his game over the summer. The Minnesota Timberwolves star had to change his long habit on the free-throw line, and it all started with Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban. On Saturday, Edwards admitted that Cuban's comments made him change.

After winning against the Boston Celtics on Saturday, Edwards was asked about the change in his free throw. The Timberwolves star said that he had to change it because of the surge in attention on his free throws.

"Some famous guy went on Instagram or went on a podcast and was talking about my free throws, and he brought it to the attention of everybody, so I had to change it," Edwards told reporters after the game.

Edwards received text messages from people around him, including Tom Crean, a former college coach who serves as the postgame and pregame analyst for the Timberwolves.

"So now, the refs be like you can't step over the line, so I had to change," Edwards said.

On Sept. 11 earlier this year, Mark Cuban brought Anthony Edwards' free throw to attention on the Road Trippin' podcast

"Watch Anthony Edwards when he takes a free throw shot," Cuban said. "Every single time he steps over the line. If you remember back in the day, I used to send in tapes on Shaq ... and they started calling it, and he had to fix his free throws."

Anthony Edwards continues to impress while the Timberwolves struggle

Anthony Edwards has been able to elevate his game every year since joining the NBA. He continues to better his offense while maintaining the Timberwolves' position among the top teams in the Western Conference. However, the story doesn't seem to be the same this season.

Edwards is having another great year, averaging 28.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 15 games. He is also having his best year in offensive efficiency, shooting carerr-best 47.7% from the field, including 39.7% from the 3-point line, also his career-best.

In the last four games, Edwards has averaged 39 points, with back-to-back 40-point games. Despite Edwards's effort, Minnesota has lost three of those four games, which included three consecutive losses against weaker teams. In a much stronger West this season, the Timberwolves have to change a lot if they want to go deeper into the playoffs.
