Last season, Victor Wembanyama captivated fans' imagination when he dressed up as the fictitious supernatural character Slender Man. This year, however, the San Antonio Spurs star won't get to rock a costume prior to a Halloween night game.

On Tuesday, Spurs beat writer Jared Weiss reported that Wemby and his team won't be playing on October 31. Rather, the Spurs will be playing the night before.

"Wemby said he won't be doing a Halloween costume this year because the Spurs play on the 30th and are off on Halloween night. Tragic," Weiss tweeted.

On Thursday, the Spurs will be facing the Miami Heat, their fifth opponent on their regular season schedule. After this matchup, the Spurs' next outing will be against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.

Fans went on to react to the news that Wembanyama won't be able to wear a Halloween costume prior to an NBA game for the third year in a row.

"Another reason to hate Adam Silver," one fan tweeted.

In a manner of speaking, Wembanyama does not need a costume to be scary in his third NBA season. Through four games, the 7-foot-3 Frenchman is averaging 31.0 points and 13.8 rebounds per outing. Powered by his impressive play, the Spurs have an unblemished record of 4-0.

Fans might have to wait till next year to see Wembanyama rocking another horror-themed costume on a Spurs playdate. Right now, the rest of the league has to contend with his fearsome performance.

During a recent media availability, Wembanyama was informed by journalist Hector Ledesma that the Spurs have never gone undefeated in the first five games of any regular season.

Hearing this, the All-Star center set his eyes on a new target.

"Spurs have never went 5-0? Let's beat that record," Wembanyama said.

The Spurs have a chance to get to this unprecedented 5-0 record by defeating the Miami Heat on Thursday. A fifth consecutive victory to begin the 2025-26 season would further build Wembanyama's MVP case this year.
