The 2026 NBA All-Star Game will have a new format, as confirmed by the league in a press release on Tuesday. The rumored USA vs. World format has been greenlit, with the NBA looking to revitalize the All-Star Game after years of being called out by fans. This season's NBA All-Star Game is scheduled for Feb. 15 at the Intuit Dome and hosted by the LA Clippers. It will be televised on NBC and Peacock, with a 5:00 p.m. EST start time. But what is the complete format, rules and other details of the 2026 NBA All-Star Game? 2026 NBA All-Star Game FormatFor the first time in NBA history, the All-Star Game will be played between the USA and the World. However, it won't be a head-to-head battle since there will be three teams composed of eight players. Two USA teams and one World team are set to play in a round-robin tournament. Each game is only 12 minutes, with four total games. The top two teams after the round robin will face each other in the final. If the final standing is a three-way tie, the tiebreaker would be point differential. For the schedule, Teams A and B will start the tournament. Team C faces the winner in Game 2, with the losing team from Game 1 facing them next for Game 3. 2026 NBA All-Star Game Player SelectionThe selection process will remain the same for this year's All-Star Game. There are going to be at least 24 All-Stars, 12 from the East and 12 from the West, though positions are no longer going to have an impact. Each conference will still have "starters" selected by the fans (50%), current players (20%) and the media (25%). Coaches, on the other hand, will remain in charge of choosing the reserves for both conferences. Once the 24 All-Stars are named, they will be assigned to the two USA teams and one World team. Since more international players could become All-Stars this season, Team World will be allowed to have more than eight players on their roster. For the two Team USAs, NBA commissioner Adam Silver is going to choose additional players to reach the minimum roster size. It will be interesting to see how many international players are going to be All-Stars this season.Victor Wembanyama, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic and Alperen Sengun appear to be shoe-ins as long as they remain healthy until February.
