The New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks will meet for the first time in the 2025-26 NBA season on Wednesday. The Knicks will play in their second game of a five-game road trip, coming off an 8-5 record. They are fourth in the East. New York lost 115-113 to the Miami Heat in its last outing.
It was a close contest until the final three minutes, when Miami took a 10-point lead. The Knicks rallied and made it a one-possession game with 22 seconds left. Davion Mitchell nearly squandered the win for the Heat after going 1-for-2 on his free-throw trip.
However, the Knicks missed three chances to tie it up and force overtime. Miles McBride, Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns fought till the last minute for the Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby-less Knicks, scoring 20-plus points each.
On the other hand, the undermanned Mavericks missed another chance to record consecutive wins after losing 120-96 at the Minnesota Timberwolves, falling to 4-11 on the season. The offense couldn't get going on the second night of a back-to-back after coming off an overtime game.

Gafford has started since his season debut and will continue in his role, alongside Cooper Flagg and P.J. Washington in the frontcourt. Brandon Williams and Max Christie will be the two guards.
Flagg is questionable due to an illness, so it remains to be seen if he can play. Klay Thompson or Naji Marshall might replace him in the lineup if he sits.
