Courage has proudly walked beside Jason Collins for a long time. On Thursday, when the former NBA player announced that he had Stage 4 brain glioblastoma, one of the deadliest forms of brain tumors that grows at a 30 percent rate, fight was the first thing on his mind.One of the many people staying in fight with Collins is his twin brother Jarron Collins, a former NBA player who played for the Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns, LA Clippers and the Portland Trail Blazers in 11 years.. Jarron is still active in the NBA, but now has a coaching job. He has served as the assistant coach for the New Orleans Pelicans since 2021. Jarron has held the coaching job since 2014, just three years after his retirement. He served as the assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors from 2014-2021. He won three titles during his first coaching stint. On Wednesday, when Jason publicly announced that he was suffering from a deadly disease, he said that his brother wanted him to fight. "Early in this process, I had a conversation with my twin brother, Jarron," Jason said. "We were both emotional, but he sat right in front of me on the couch and said, 'You have to fight. No matter what, you have to fight."Jason Collins was the first NBA player to come out as gay. He told Ramona Shelbourne that just like he didn't hide his sexuality from the world, he didn't want to keep his terminal illness hidden. In September, Jason's family released a statement saying that he was diagnosed with brain cancer. "We aren't going to sit back and let this cancer kill me without giving it a hell of a fight."Jason revealed that it was first detected in August. After fighting through the symptoms in the first few weeks, he got the check-up at UCLA when the tumor was found during a CT scan. Jason Collins played 13 seasons in the NBA with seven teams. He averaged 3.6 points and 3.7 assists.
