Giannis Antetokounmpo’s long-term status with the Milwaukee Bucks is drawing heightened attention after ESPN insider Shams Charania reported that the two-time MVP and his agent have “started conversations” with the franchise about his future, with clarity expected in the coming weeks.
One franchise rumored to be interested in the Greek Freak is the New York Knicks. Charania previously reported that Antetokounmpo had interest in joining a Knicks squad that made last season’s Eastern Conference finals.
Antetokounmpo sustained a calf strain Wednesday, and his injury absence has only fueled more speculation.
If the Knicks are indeed his preferred landing spot, the cost to make that happen will be enormous, especially since they already gave up significant draft capital to acquire Mikal Bridges, Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby.

5 Players Knicks Might Include in Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade
#1. Karl-Anthony Towns
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s $54.1 million salary is difficult to match, meaning the Knicks would have to send out major contracts. The most logical financial option is Karl-Anthony Towns, who earns $53.1 million.
A potential Towns-Antetokounmpo combination would be tantalizing for New York, but it likely isn’t realistic.
#2. OG Anunoby
Anunoby’s $39.5 million deal could be paired with smaller contracts to reach the required salary. At 28, he isn’t young, but he could still help the Bucks.
The Knicks may be willing to include him if it means bringing in Antetokounmpo as the new starting power forward.
#3. Josh Hart
If the Bucks move Antetokounmpo, they would probably want strong defensive players in return since they aren’t expected to tank. One such option is Josh Hart, whose $19.4 million salary could be part of a larger package.
#4. Miles McBride
Milwaukee needs help in the backcourt, especially after parting ways with Damian Lillard. While Ryan Rollins has filled minutes, acquiring a young guard such as Miles McBride could appeal to the Bucks.
#5. Pacome Dadiet
Another guard piece is Pacome Dadiet, a 20-year-old prospect who has barely played for New York this season but might flourish with more responsibility elsewhere.
Most realistic scenario for Giannis Antetokounmpo to land with the Knicks
Based on the factors above, the most plausible scenario has the Bucks sending Giannis Antetokounmpo and his brother Thanasis to New York in exchange for OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, Miles McBride and every draft pick the Knicks can legally include.
The move cannot be finalized until Dec. 15 due to trade restrictions involving Thanasis, and Milwaukee would need to add a player to make the deal compliant.
