Kelsey Mitchell is a professional basketball player for the Indiana Fever from Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S. She was born on November 12, 1995, and made her debut with the Fever after being selected as their second overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft. She was honored with a spot on the WNBA All-Rookie Team in 2018 and received the Dawn Staley Leadership Award in 2023. As of October 2025, she has been selected for the WNBA All-Star thrice in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

She had also played overseas for teams including the Al Ahly Women's Basketball Team, an Egyptian team, in the 2019 FIBA Africa Women's Clubs Champions Cup, for the Elitzur Ramla, an Israeli team, and for the Uni Girona Club de Basquet, a Spanish team. Additionally, Mitchell participated in the Athletes Unlimited League from 2022 to 2024.

Kelsey Mitchell attended the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, starting in 2014. During her four years with the Ohio State Women's Basketball Team, she achieved numerous accolades, including the Dawn Staley Award in 2018, the Big Ten co-Player of the Year twice in 2015 and 2018, the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2017, the Big Ten Tournament MOP in 2018, the USBWA National Freshman of the Year in 2015, and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2015. In 2020, Mitchell completed her master's degree from the University of Cincinnati in Sports Administration. She then applied for a PhD at the University of Miami in 2022.

Mitchell was named to the First-team All-American by the AP in 2016 and the Second-team All-American by the AP three times in 2015, 2017, and 2018. She earned the WBCA Coaches' All-American honors three times from 2016 to 2018 and was named All-American by USBWA four times from 2015 to 2018. Mitchell was also a First-team All-Big Ten selection four times from 2015 to 2018. She ended her collegiate basketball career with 3,402 points. During her senior season, she scored an average of 24.4 points per game, with shooting rates of 46.1% overall and 40.3% from three-point range, along with 4.1 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game.

Kelsey Mitchell graduated from Princeton High School in Sharonville, Ohio, in 2014, where she played for the Princeton Vikings. Mitchell was named a McDonald's All-American in 2014 and received several accolades, including the three-time Cincinnati Enquirer Player of the Year, the Most Outstanding Player of the Division I State Tournament, the MVP of the State Championship Game, and the four-year honoree of the Greater Miami Conference All-Academic Award. She was also the 2014 Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year, the Division I Player of the Year, and the Associated Press Ohio Ms. Basketball.

Additionally, she was the 2014 Princeton High School Female Athlete of the Year and was a member of the All-Ohio Black AAU Team. She was also the Larosa's Female High School MVP of the Year in 2014. As a senior, Mitchell averaged 26.1 points, 4.4 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.9 steals, helping the Princeton Vikings win a Division I State Championship title under coach Jill Phillips.
