Brittney Sykes is a basketball player who plays for the Washington Mystics in the WNBA. She was born on 7 February 1994 in Newark, New Jersey, U.S. Sykes started her basketball journey at the University High School of Humanities in her hometown New Jersey where she was a four-star athlete. Alongside her school, she also played for a club named the Philly Belles. For school success, she got a chance to play at the 2012 McDonald's All-American and was also selected for the USA U-18 team. In 2012 she joined college basketball for the Syracuse University women's basketball team where she played for five years. In college, she played 138 games where she averaged 13.4 points, 1.9 assists 5.9 rebounds per game.

In 2017 Brittney Sykes was selected seventh overall by the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA draft. In her rookie season, she impressed and became a member of the WNBA All-Rookie Team. In the 2024 WNBA season, Brittney Sykes averaged 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game for the Washington Mystics team. Sykes also had a noteworthy USA Basketball career. In 2019, she was part of the USA AmeriCup Team, which achieved a 6-0 record and won the gold medal at the FIBA AmeriCup in San Juan, Puerto Rico, averaging 7.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
