Pastrňák made his NHL debut in the 2014-15 season, and scored his first NHL goal on January 10, 2015, against the Philadelphia Flyers. He finished the season with a career-best 61 goals and 113 points, placing second in the league in goals and tied for third in points. The Bruins won the Presidents' Trophy as the best team in the regular season, breaking the league record for both wins and standings points. Pastrňák was widely regarded as the team's standout player and was named a finalist for the Ted Lindsay Award, voted by the National Hockey League Players' Association for the league's most outstanding player. He was also a finalist for the Hart Memorial Trophy, voted by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association for the league's most valuable player, for the first time.
