He first enrolled at California State University, Long Beach, before switching to San Diego State University for his sophomore year. During his amateur career, from 2011 to 2015, he won five titles, including the California State Amateur Championship. He turned professional in 2015 and has since won 12 professional titles, including two majors, in the PGA Championship and the Open Championship in the 2024 season.
