Luchadores are professional wrestlers from Mexican Lucha Libre (high-flying wrestling). They wrestle while wearing special masks, and in line with Formula 1 having an event in Mexico City, Fernando Alonso showed up in a green Aston Martin-themed mask ahead of the drivers' parade. Interestingly, the mask even had a visor attached to it.

Moreover, other than Esteban Ocon and George Russell, drivers like Oliver Bearman, Alex Albon, Oscar Piastri, and Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto were all seen having a great laugh around Alonso's helmet.

A video regarding the same was recently posted by Formula 1, and it was captioned as:

"Nando Libre." (Nickname given to Alonso during last week's race weekend).

While Fernando Alonso surprised his fellow drivers with a Luchador mask ahead of the drivers' parade at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez racing circuit, he did not have a solid three-day outing at the track.

Firstly, the veteran driver was only able to secure a starting position of P14 in qualifying, and during Sunday's main 71-lap race, he ultimately ended up with an unfortunate DNF. His Aston Martin teammate, Lance Stroll, also ended up outside the points scoring position in P14.

In line with this, Alonso deemed the Red Bull driver as 'one of the best' in Formula 1.

"He's a four-time world champion, first of all. That’s not a casual thing. He’s one of the best drivers in the history of the sport. I think he’s able to extract the maximum from the car. When the car is a dominant car, he can win the championship and break some records throughout the season."

"And when the car is not that good or not the fastest, he still provides the good lap in qualifying, or the good race, the good fight. (Via: RN365).

In the 2025 Mexican Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was able to come away with a third-place finish. McLaren's Lando Norris won the race and is now leading in the standings with 357 points. Verstappen, on his end, is in third with 321.

Only four races are remaining on the race calendar, and considering this, the fight for the drivers' championship is going to be extremely fascinating.
