McLaren star Oscar Piastri crashed out of the 2025 Brazilian GP sprint race on Lap 6 after taking a bit too much kerb in the tricky, damp conditions. The Australian driver was sent spinning into the barrier and brought out the red flags. Piastri came out and reacted to his race-ending crash at Interlagos.

Oscar Piastri had a difficult last couple of races and lost the championship lead to his teammate, Lando Norris. Coming into Brazil, the Australian seemed to be back and took P3 in the sprint qualifying, just a few tenths away from Norris in pole position.

A cyclone warning and orange alert were issued at Interlagos ahead of the sprint race, and the race started on a semi-damp track, but all the drivers opted for the slick tires as most of the track was dry. The drivers managed to keep it clean in the initial laps, but as they got comfortable and started to push, the incident happened.

Oscar Piastri took a bit too much kerb in Turn 3 on Lap 6, which resulted in him losing traction at the front, spinning out of control, and slamming into the barrier. Nico Hulkenberg and Franco Colapinto also lost traction into the same corner on the same lap and crashed into the barrier.

“Just dipped a wheel on the white line and the kerb and around I went. Yeah silly, unfortunate mistake, that's it.”

Speaking with Sky Sports F1 about looking forward to the upcoming sessions, he said,

“I will try to put this behind [me]. There's a lot more points on offer tomorrow, so the better job I can do in Qualifying to get a good starting spot, the better it will be.”

Lando Norris won the sprint race at the Brazilian GP and increased his championship lead to 9 points from the Australian as Piastri crashed out of the race and scored zero points.

The F1 rookie came out and explained how Lando Norris took a lot of kerbs into Turn 3 on the same lap that Piastri crashed, and that the Briton splashed water into the racing line.

“Norris took a lot of kerb, and a lot of water went on line.”

Piastri's car sustained serious damage from the track, and the team would need to repair the same before qualifying, which is just a couple of hours away from the sprint race.
