Norris had a solid start to the 2025 season. He won the season opener and took the lead in the championship. Though Oscar Piastri mounted a stern battle in the midsection of the year, the Briton was able to make a comeback.

However, another driver was seemingly on a comeback mission as Max Verstappen started taking out chunks of the McLaren drivers lead, but in the end, Norris prevailed. A third-place finish was all he needed, and at the end of the day, he brought home a podium result and took home the title.

Brimming with emotions, Norris was then asked about his thoughts on becoming a world champion by former F1 driver David Coulthard in the post-race interview, as he said:

"Oh god. I have not cried in a while. I did not think I'd cry. It's been a long journey. I want to thank my guys at McLaren, my mom and dad, who supported me from the beginning. I look like a looser. I now know what Max feels like a little bit! I want to congratulate Max and Oscar as well, it has been a pleasure to race against both of them, and to learn from both of them. But we did it, we did it! I am so proud of everyone."

"I was just trying to enjoy the moment, not many people get to experience what I've experienced today. I am happier for them more than more."

On the other hand, Lando Norris becomes the first British driver since Lewis Hamilton to lift the F1 drivers' crown.

Winning a world championship is on every F1 driver's bucket list. Lando Norris was able to tick this off from his list and become the 34th different driver to win an F1 world drivers' championship.

Moreover, he also became the 11th driver hailing from the United Kingdom to take home an F1 title. He joined Mike Hawthorn, Graham Hill, Jim Clark, John Surtees, Jackie Stewart, James Hunt, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Jenson Button, and Lewis Hamilton as the other British drivers to have achieved this feat.

Meanwhile, his championship victory also means that Norris would enter the regulations reset as the reigning drivers' champion. This also helps McLaren take home a championship double from the 2025 season for the first time since 1998.
