While Max Verstappen is obliged to follow the current F1 calendar, there's no stopping him from having his own version of it. Speaking about it ahead of the Las Vegas GP, the Red Bull star shared his version of the calendar, which includes fewer races, no sprints, and fewer races at street circuits.

It is a universally known fact that Verstappen is not a fan of 24 races per season. He often spoke about having fewer races and no Sprint race weekends. When asked about the same in a recent Red Bull interview, here's how he Verstappen summed up his ideal F1 calendar:

"Definitely, lot less races, only at the good tracks. Not too many street circuits, two-day race weekends, and an even more straightforward calendar with the flying. So yeah, quite a few changes. No sprints, just the main race cause there's more emotions in it. Just one practice, then qualifying, and then the race. So that's enough in a race weekend."

The current F1 calendar has 24 races, and six sprints spread across 21 countries, five continents, and takes place for 10 months. When Verstappen joined F1 in 2015, there were no sprint races in the calendar, and there were 19 races in a season.

The Red Bull star is currently in contention for the world championship, his fifth in a straight succession. While he won the last three titles with ease, the ongoing battle is unlikely to go his way.

With 341 points and P3, the reigning champion Verstappen is 49 points behind the championship leader, Lando Norris, and 25 points behind Oscar Piastri after 21 races and five sprints.

Max Verstappen pleased with Red Bull advancements

Max Verstappen is pleased with his performance and how he was able to cut off the huge gap to Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Speaking about how his team helped in this throughout, here's what the Dutchman told the media ahead of the Las Vegas GP:

"It’s been good, for sure. I think every season you want to try and be better, which is not always easy but you try to be more consistent. Otherwise we tried to really optimise everything we can with the car, and I think most of the time we really did that, so I’m pleased with that."

"It’s not where I wanted it to be for most of the season, otherwise you’re fighting all season for the title, which we haven’t really. I enjoyed the highs and the wins that we did score, but at the same time, of course, the lows were also not fantastic," Verstappen added.

With three races and a sprint left, Max Verstappen would need more than just performance to win this year's title. Three wins in the next three races, and DNFs by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri is the only way to turn things around for the four-time world champion.
