The McLaren Christmas party took place at the McLaren Technology Centre just days after the FIA Award Ceremony. Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Zak Brown, Andrea Stella and all the other employees were present at the Woking based state of the art building.

The Christmas party doubled up as a celebration for the 2025 F1 success as the Papaya team secured the Constructors' and Drivers' championship. During the party, McLaren CEO Zak Brown addressed the employees with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri on the stage with the boss.

While addressing, Brown took a shot at Oscar Piastri, suggesting the Australian’s only other way to make a full-time F1 seat was Alpine. The comments also hinted at the contract saga where the French team announced Piastri as their driver for 2023, but the Australian took to social media and denied signing any contracts, followed by an eventual announcement of him signing for McLaren.

“We took big risks on both of you and don't pretend you had better options, you had f**king Alpine and we had to go faster than Stoffel Vandoorne,” said Brown

Oscar Piastri led the F1 championship for the majority of the season and fell into a wormhole of bad form after the Azerbaijan GP crash. The Australian lost points to his teammate, who eventually went on to win the championship by securing a podium in Abu Dhabi.

After the race ended, Zak Brown took to the team radio and said,

“Thank you Oscar for everything you’ve done. What a year. Oscar, very proud of you. Awesome. What a team player. We go again next year. See you on the podium.” (via Sky Sports)

Nico Rosberg came out and criticised Brown for not showing empathy towards the Australian who had just lost the championship. The 2016 F1 champion said,

“That’s his most horrible moment in his racing career. Maybe Zak could have had a little more empathy there, rather than celebrating. He could have said, ‘Next year will be your year’, but it’s difficult for Zak because he’s so ecstatic at the same time.”

Norris won the title by a 2-point gap to Max Verstappen and a 13-point gap to his teammate.
