Lando Norris sent a message of support for the 'best of all time' Lewis Hamilton after the seven-time F1 champion's nightmare season with Ferrari. Norris and Hamilton had polar opposite seasons in 2025.
While the McLaren driver recorded his best-ever F1 season en route to winning his first drivers' championship last weekend in Abu Dhabi, his compatriot recorded the worst season of his F1 career with Ferrari. For the first time in his 19-year career, Lewis Hamilton went the entire race calendar without securing a podium.
Lando Norris, who became the 11th Briton and the first since Hamilton to win an F1 drivers' championship, sympathized with the 40-year-old's struggles. Speaking about wanting to race his childhood idol more, he told Sky Sports News:
"We've had a good amount of battles already. I would love to race a bit more with Lewis. Obviously, Ferrari struggled a lot more this year than I think everyone was expecting. Lewis has proved himself to be probably the best of all time. Everyone knows if anyone can bounce back from difficult years, it's Mr Hamilton, and I would love to race against him more."
Lewis Hamilton finished sixth in the drivers' standings, 86 points behind teammate Charles Leclerc in fifth. Both drivers were fed up with Ferrari's underperformance by the end of the season. They admitted they were 'happy' to bid goodbye to the SF25 and welcome the 2026 F1 car, which will have a new chassis, power unit, and aero packages under the new technical regulations beginning next season.
Lewis Hamilton's endearing message for Lando Norris after the McLaren driver's 2025 F1 title win

Lewis Hamilton shared a heartwarming moment with Lando Norris in the media pen after the Abu Dhabi GP, where the McLaren driver's P3 finish earned him the F1 drivers' championship. The seven-time champion approached Norris, who was in the middle of an interview, and they shared a warm embrace.
When Hamilton was giving another interview, he shared his emotions about witnessing Norris win his first title.
"I’m really happy for him," the Ferrari driver said. "Winning your first world championship is truly special. The UK continues to pump out great drivers, and I know what the feeling is also when you’re coming into this race and fighting for your first championship, it’s nerve-wracking."
He added:
"I’m just really proud of him. Before the weekend, I told him what he does works, so don’t change anything, and I guess that’s what he did."
In the post-race FIA press conference, Lando Norris also expressed regret over his 'stupid' comments about Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in the past. He hinted at his infamous cooldown room moment with Hamilton after the 2024 Hungarian GP and apologized for it, emphasizing that he may never be as good as his idol.
