Oliver Bearman has once again caught the attention of the F1 world after an eye-catching performance on Saturday’s qualifying at Interlagos. The 19-year-old Haas rookie, already earning plaudits for his run in Mexico, put in another commanding display in Brazil by momentarily holding provisional pole before finishing eighth overall.

Bearman's run came after drivers like 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton and 4-time champion Max Verstappen failed to make it to SQ3. His rapid progress has kept the fanbase buzzing, particularly given his direct connection to Ferrari’s Driver Academy. One fan summed it up on X:

With Lewis Hamilton's lackluster Ferrari 2025 stint and reports suggesting his deal ends in 2026, Oliver Bearman’s contract aligns perfectly with the Scuderia’s long-term planning horizon. Having already made an impressive debut as a Ferrari stand-in last season, his continued form at Haas this year strengthens the idea that Maranello could look internally if the seat opens up.

Fans continued to react enthusiastically to his display at Interlagos, when Bearman briefly led the timings in the Q2 session, in an X post by F1 captioned:

"Eight minutes to go in Q2 and, once again, Oliver Bearman is setting the pace 🔥"

Lando Norris eventually clinched pole, with a 1 minute 09.7s run ahead of Kimi Antonelli. Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri locked in behind, with Bearman’s P8 still marking one of the strongest Haas qualifying results of the year.

Oliver Bearman recovers from Sprint chaos to strong qualifying rebound in Brazil

The Interlagos weekend was a mixed bag for Oliver Bearman. After an impressive Mexico GP where he ran as high as second, expectations were naturally elevated. His Haas VF-25 looked quick in Friday practice, but he only managed 15th in Sprint qualifying after yellow flags from Charles Leclerc’s spin halted his SQ2 bid.

Saturday’s sprint saw early drama when contact with Liam Lawson at Turn 4 sent Bearman into a spin, dropping him down to P18. Stewards reviewed the incident post-race, handing both drivers five-second penalties and one penalty point each for “potentially dangerous driving.” Despite that, Bearman recovered well to finish 12th.

In the main race qualifying, Bearman was back to his usual form. His early laps were among the cleanest on the grid, setting a 1:10.664 that briefly topped Q1 as conditions improved. He went on to impress in Q2, running ahead of Oscar Piastri and keeping pace with the Papaya cars before settling into eighth, outperforming his veteran teammate Esteban Ocon 13-8 in qualifying this year.

Bearman's ability to extract consistent performance from the Haas VF-25 has not gone unnoticed, and if fan sentiment is anything to go by, the calls for a Ferrari future will only grow louder.
