An emotional Lando Norris thanked his mother and father after clinching his maiden F1 world championship at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday. The Briton expressed his gratitude to his parents, Cisca Wauman and Adam Norris, "for everything" that they have done for him as he held back tears on the in lap.Lando Norris made his way into the history books as he secured the 2025 F1 drivers' world championship at the Abu Dhabi GP. Finishing third in the race at the Yas Marina Circuit was enough for the 26-year-old to clinch the title by 2 points from Max Verstappen, who came home to take the win.After the race ended, Norris was unable to hold back the tears as he came over the team radio to share his emotions with his McLaren team. After thanking the Papaya squad, he thanked his parents for what they have done for him in his journey to becoming the World Champion."Thank you guys. Oh my God, you've made a kid's dream come true. Thank you so much, I love you guys. Thanks for everything, you deserve it. I love you mom, I love you dad, thanks for everything. I'm not crying," said Norris.Lando Norris was over 30 points behind his teammate Oscar Piastri coming out of the Dutch Grand Prix, and many had believed his title fight could be over after his DNF at Zandvoort. Not a lot of words were exchanged, but both his mom and dad were visibly emotional and had moved to tears.What looked to be a straightforward affair for one of the McLaren drivers in the early stages of the 2025 season was turned into a very stressful situation for the Papaya team by Max Verstappen. The title was hence not won until the final lap of Abu Dhabi in a situation which would have surely been stressful for Norris and his family.But as Norris secured the title, all emotions were let loose from not only the driver but also his friends and family.Max Verstappen ended the 2025 season with the most poles and race wins in a year when McLaren secured the constructors' title in October at the Singapore GP. But the Dutchman fell just 2 points short of the prize in the end, even amid his resurgence in the second half of the season.
