George Russell's hilarious remark about the drama surrounding the Lewis Hamilton-Max Verstappen incident from the Mexican GP recently surfaced.
The 2025 Mexican GP saw several drivers, including Hamilton and Verstappen, compete hard for places. While battling for third place on lap 6, both drivers went off track at different points, which opened up opportunities for others. Firstly, Verstappen went off at Turn 2, and then Hamilton (10-second time penalty) took the escape route at the following corner.
Amid this chaos, Haas' Oliver Bearman managed to get past Verstappen and Russell, who was running behind Hamilton and Verstappen; the Brit dropped down to P7.
Seeing the whole ordeal play out, Russell deemed the actions of young racers Bearman and Andrea Kimi Antonelli as a 'f**king joke.'
"These kids are a f**king joke. Reminds me of my first-ever go-kart race," he said in untelevised team radio (Via Planet F1).
At a later point, Russell was heard over the radio having an intense back-and-forth with his race engineer while McLaren's Oscar Piastri was behind him:
"Marcus, I’ve got a f***ing car up my a**e, OK? A car much quicker than ours. I’m trying to hold position. I’ve got much more pace than Kimi here and we can fight for a podium."
After all the ups and downs of the 71-lap Mexican GP, Russell was able to come away with a P7 finish.
"A very bad day": George Russell on the disappointment of Mexican GP

After the end of the race, George Russell cut an extremely frustrated figure.
"I struggle to understand how three drivers can just cut the first corner and continue," he said during a post-race interview with F1. "It punishes the drivers who have driven correctly, and if you can risk everything with no downside, that is what drivers are going to do. It has always been the case here in Mexico – people cutting Turn 1. So I was frustrated.
"Then I got unlucky with Max and Lewis when they came together. Max went off the track, came back on, I was on the outside and lost two positions. So in the end, just a very bad day."
With only four races remaining on the 2025 race calendar, Russell is currently in fourth place in the drivers' standings with 258 points. He has amassed two Grand Prix wins and eight podiums.
