Lando Norris went into the 2025 season as the favorite to win the title, given McLaren's MCL39 dominant display in the pre-season testing. While there were a few hiccups along the way, including a DNF at the Dutch GP and a collision with teammate and title rival Oscar Piastri, the Briton did just enough to win his first title.

Norris won the title by 2 points as Max Verstappen finished as the runner-up. The 26-year-old became the most recent McLaren champion with Lewis Hamilton winning the last title in 2008. He also became only the 35th driver to win the F1 title, and the 13th Briton to accomplish the feat.

With the season done and dusted, the drivers arrived at the Yas Marina circuit on December 9, 2025, for the post-season testing. As Lando Norris arrived in the paddock, he flaunted a black hoodie with his most recent accomplishment printed on the backside.

The hoodie featured a golden helmet in Norris’ lid design with “Lando Norris Champion” and “LN1 World Champion” text printed next to the helmet. The hoodie was released by the Briton's apparel store “Lando Norris store” as part of a world champion collection.

Lando Norris ran with the #4 since he joined the F1 grid. However, since he won the 2025 championship, he had the option to race with #1 for the upcoming season. Speaking with Sky Sports after winning the championship, he confirmed that he'll run the #1 for the 2026 season and detailed the reason behind it.

“It's tradition, it's there for a reason. It's there because you can go and try to grab it and you can work hard to try and get it. All of us as a team that gets to have a role in McLaren, or my car, will get to wear that with pride. It's all my mechanics, my engineers, everyone that's part of McLaren gets to have that acknowledgement too.”

“So, it's not for me, it's for them as well. It's their pride, knowing that they put a lot of work and effort into everything that they can also go 'we're number one',” added Norris

Norris also unveiled a special helmet for the 2025 Abu Dhabi post-season test. It features the same design as his regular helmet, but the base neon green color was replaced with gold to celebrate the championship victory. McLaren shared the same on their Instagram profile with a caption detailing it as the “Golden Blob”
