Latest reports from Italy have suggested that the Aston Martin F1 team has been in repeated contact with Charles Leclerc's camp regarding a potential move to the team in 2027. The Monegasque's future at Ferrari is uncertain at the moment, and there have also been rumors that he has grown disillusioned with the project at Maranello.

In recent months, multiple reports have suggested that Charles Leclerc has become frustrated with Ferrari and may consider a move in the future, especially if the Prancing Horses fail to be competitive again in 2026. Chairman John Elkann's recent comments about Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton have also sparked suggestions that all is not well within the camp.

All in all, Leclerc moving away from Ferrari in the near future does not seem to be an impossible prospect. Now, reputed Italian journalist Leo Turrini has reported that Aston Martin has been in repeated contact with the 28-year-old's manager, Nicolas Todt.

Writing in his blog for Quotidiano Nazionale, Turrini explained that former FIA boss Jean Todt's son, Nicolas, has been in contact with multiple parties to discuss Leclerc's future. Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll is seemingly keen on bringing Charles Leclerc to the team in 2027, with Fernando Alonso nearing the end of his career as well.

With a Honda engine in the back of their car that the legendary Adrian Newey is designing, the Silverstone-based outfit is expecting to leap to the front of the field when F1's new era begins in 2026.

The pack is expected to remain largely the same in 2026, but a lot could change in 2027 after the drivers understand the pecking order in the new era. Turrini also noted that Max Verstappen is at the center of the domino, with his move in 2027 likely to decide the future of numerous other drivers.

2009 F1 world champion Jenson Button recently showered Charles Leclerc with high praise, explaining that he consistently pushes the boundaries of his car to extract the maximum performance. The Briton also labelled Leclerc as one of the best drivers in the world, alongside his teammate Lewis Hamilton.

Speaking about Ferrari's fight for P2 in the constructors' championship, Button explained that the team still has a good chance of achieving this, as they have two stellar drivers. He also gave a special mention to Charles Leclerc, saying: [via Sky Sports' The F1 Show]

"For Ferrari, they have unbelievably talented drivers. Lewis, 7 time world champion, and Charles, who has been with Ferrari for so many years. He pushes the boundaries, always. We watch him in qualifying, it's always...(on the edge). But the laps he puts together, stunning."

"So, two of the best drivers in the world, and if they have a straightforward weekend (in Las Vegas), I think they'll pick up some points," he added.

After their double DNF at the Brazilian GP, Ferrari has slipped to P4 in the constructors' standings behind Mercedes and Red Bull. But Button believes overtaking Red Bull again shouldn't be an extremely tough task, given that only Max Verstappen scores points for the Austrian team regularly.
