After another disastrous race, Lewis Hamilton confesses he's not looking forward to 2026

Lewis Hamilton has declared that he is 'not looking forward' to the 2026 Formula 1 season after another horrendous outing (Las Vegas GP). The Brit has not been able to put in consistent performances in Ferrari's SF25 this year.

During the recently concluded Las Vegas Grand Prix race weekend, Hamilton first got knocked out in Q1 in qualifying (P20). Then in today's race he was able to manage just a P8 finish, which was bumped up two places following McLaren drivers' double-DSQ.

The ongoing campaign is 22 rounds down, and with only two races remaining, Hamilton is currently in sixth place in the drivers' standings. Moreover, the points gap between him and his teammate Charles Leclerc (P5) is currently 74 points.

The seven-time world champion is not having the kind of outing he would have hoped for ahead of the 2025 campaign. And after another disappointing performance in the Las Vegas GP, he cut an extremely dejected figure.

"It's a terrible result. There is nothing positive to take from today. I'm eager for it to end, I'm looking forward to it ending. I'm not looking forward to the next one," Hamilton told BBC (via @simsgazzette).

In line with the response, Hamilton was asked whether he was not looking forward to Round 23, the Qatar Grand Prix. He clarified by saying:

"Next season."

2026 will mark the dawn of a new era in the pinnacle of motorsport under fresh regulations.

Lewis Hamilton 'struggled with balance' in the Las Vegas GP

While Lewis Hamilton has asserted that he is not looking forward to next year's Formula 1 campaign, he also took the time to cast light on what went wrong for him in the 50-lap race. He came up with an in-depth take and added the following via F1's official website:

"After the start, I struggled with balance. I was just really struggling with the brakes that we have – locking the fronts, locking the rears, there was just no in-between, no middle ground."

"I was catching Nico Hulkenberg but had the slowest pace, so I wasn't really particularly quick. Then I got some damage with the Williams [of Alex Albon], and everything changed after that. Horrendous weekend. Another one just to add to the list."

With the Qatar GP next up on the 2025 race calendar, Lewis Hamilton managed a P12 finish in the event in 2024. Keeping in view how much he has struggled in getting to grips with the Ferrari challenger, the Qatar event could also prove a bit tricky for the Brit.

During next week's three-day event, Hamilton will hope for a consistent run in the SF-25.
