The Brazilian GP has long thrilled fans with nail-biting races, often shaped by the unpredictable weather at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace. The weather has not had a massive impact on proceedings yet so far in the 2025 edition of the race, but let's take a look at how likely the rain is expected to affect the Grand Prix on Sunday.

While an orange alert for storms remains in effect at Interlagos, the Brazilian GP has been largely unaffected by the conditions so far this weekend. The region saw heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday, with the FIA even allowing teams to close their garage doors overnight on Friday due to the intense downpour.

While it hasn’t rained during any of the competitive sessions so far, Saturday’s Sprint was still affected by the weather, as it began on a slightly damp track. This played a major role in the drivers’ championship battle when Oscar Piastri crashed at Turn 3 after hitting a puddle. Nico Hulkenberg and Franco Colapinto were also caught out at the same corner and ended up crashing into the barriers as well.

However, the weather in the region improved significantly by Saturday evening, with temperatures rising to around 28°C. The clouds also moved northwards, suggesting that the track should be dry for Sunday’s race.

The latest weather forecast for Sunday’s race suggests there is now a 0% chance of rain at the Interlagos circuit during the race, which is scheduled to begin at 14:00 BRT (track time). Conditions are expected to be sunny with intervals of cloudy weather. While the chance of showers appears to be almost zero, it can never be completely ruled out, given the interchangeable conditions we have previously witnessed at Interlagos.

Lando Norris explained that the weather conditions played a big role in the Brazilian GP qualifying, as the Briton secured pole position. The change in wind direction on Saturday made things slightly trickier than the McLaren driver would have liked.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, the pole-sitter for the race explained how challenging it was to put in a consistent lap at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace during qualifying.

"Things were going well, just difficult conditions out there with the wind and things. Difficult to find places to improve, difficult to be consistent. So it was a challenge, as it was for everyone, and it caught me out in Q1," said Norris [via Formula 1].

"Happy, bit more stressful than I would have liked, but obviously (I achieved) the result that I needed," he added.

The Brazilian GP weekend is turning into a nearly perfect one for Norris, who has already gained eight points on his championship rival Oscar Piastri during the sprint. Now he starts the race from P1, while his Aussie teammate is down in fourth.

Max Verstappen's title charge also looks to be coming to an end, as the Dutchman is now 39 points behind the championship leader and will be starting the Brazilian GP from P16.
